The African American Visual Artists Guild's Exposition Through Art program brings its member artists together to create a themed set of art work meant to travel throughout the area over a 2-year time period. The current project is entitled Historic African American Churches of Southwest Ohio. Seventeen of our member and invited artists have created pieces that celebrate churches in Southwest Ohio that have been in existence for more than 75 years and throughout their history have not only supplied the needs of their congregations but have also been strong community activists. A 24-month calendar was also created depicting each piece along with an historic narrative about the church. Proceeds from calendar sales go to support the project and young developing artists.
