Tippecanoe Community Band will present a free concert in the covered, open-air pavilion in Piqua's Fountain Park on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. Theme of the concert is "Award-Winning Composers, Musicals, and Films", plus music from the past six decades. Fountain Park is located just north of Park Avenue at 1300 N. Forest Avenue in Piqua, Ohio. Director of the band is Ms. Gail Ahmed, a retired music educator from the Tipp City Schools and presently an instructor at Edison State Community College in Piqua. The band rehearses weekly in Tipp City and performs several outdoor concerts during the summer months. The band is financially supported by donations and honorariums. Indoor concerts are performed at class reunions, schools, churches, assisted living and retirement centers. The first big event of the Christmas & Winter Season is an indoor concert on Friday evening, November 29, 2018 at Tipp City's "Zion Lutheran Church". The band was formed in 1980 and includes a blend of semi-professional musicians, adults who have "always" played, and advanced students.
